Florida never fails to deliver the kind of stories that make you question everything you thought you knew about human behavior.
A 51-year-old career criminal just pulled off one of the most jaw-dropping smuggling attempts in law enforcement history.
And this Florida man’s thermos smuggling attempt left even the most experienced sheriff completely speechless.
Walter Frymire’s bizarre day started with a naked complaint
Walter Frymire has made quite a name for himself in Polk County law enforcement circles – and not in a good way.
The 51-year-old has racked up 25 prior arrests and served five separate stints in state prison over the years.
His latest encounter with law enforcement started when deputies received a call about a naked man in a public park restroom.
"We got a call that he was naked inside of a restroom at a public park, so we asked – is he naked or buck naked?" Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd explained during one of his trademark morning briefings.
"You can be naked and still have your socks on, but if you’re buck naked you are totally naked," Judd clarified.

When deputies arrived at the scene, Frymire was fully clothed, so they cut him a break and simply issued a trespass warning.
"We’re nice," Sheriff Judd said. "We told him, ‘We’re going to give you a break.’"
But Frymire apparently wasn’t interested in second chances.
The career criminal walked straight across the street and hopped onto nearby railroad tracks – another trespassing violation.
This time, deputies had no choice but to arrest him.
During the arrest, deputies discovered methamphetamine on Frymire, adding drug possession to his trespassing charge.
Sheriff Judd also noted that Frymire admitted to being a meth user for 28 years, which probably explains some of his questionable decision-making.
Body scanner reveals the most shocking contraband discovery ever
Every person entering the Polk County Jail goes through a routine body scanner to prevent weapons, drugs, and other contraband from entering the facility.
What showed up on Frymire’s X-ray left veteran deputies struggling to believe their own eyes.
"You might have thought Walter was bringing drugs into the jail," Sheriff Judd explained. "He brought a thermos into the jail. That’s right."
"He put it up the exit ramp. You know what I mean?"
The X-ray clearly showed a large thermos lodged inside Frymire’s body, stretching from his hip all the way up to his rib area.
When deputies confronted Frymire about the bizarre discovery, his explanation was somehow even more disturbing than the X-ray itself.
"We said ‘Dude! What are you doing here?’ He said, ‘Well, I put that inside my body,’" Judd recalled. "He didn’t swallow it twenty-four hours earlier."
The sheriff made it crystal clear how Frymire had concealed the thermos – and it wasn’t through his mouth.
Deputies immediately recognized this wasn’t just a contraband issue – it was a life-threatening medical emergency.
Deputies rushed to save the life of a man who threatened to kill them
Frymire was rushed to a local hospital where doctors had to locate a specialist to surgically remove the thermos.
"They had to find a specialist," Sheriff Judd said. "It was quite the ordeal, but he’s thermos-less in the county jail today."
The irony of the situation wasn’t lost on Sheriff Judd.
"The deputy saved his life," Judd explained. "And that was after Walter threatened to kill the deputy for arresting him."
Think about that for a moment – this career criminal threatened to murder the very officer who ended up saving his life by getting him to a hospital before the thermos caused internal damage or worse.
The X-ray images released by the sheriff’s office show just how dangerous Frymire’s smuggling attempt really was.
The large thermos created a serious blockage that could have killed him within hours if left untreated.
Medical experts had to perform delicate surgery to remove the object without causing additional internal injuries.
Sheriff Judd concluded his briefing with the kind of disbelief that only comes from decades in law enforcement.
"Told you you weren’t gonna believe it. Never seen it before. Have another drink of coffee," Judd said.
This wasn’t Frymire’s first time being refused entry to a jail facility due to medical issues.
He was previously turned away from Marion County Jail because of a large laceration on his forehead that required medical treatment before he could be properly booked.
But a thermos lodged in his rectum? That’s a first even for Florida.
The real lesson about crime and consequences
Look, you can’t make this stuff up, and that’s exactly why Sheriff Grady Judd has become something of a legend in Florida law enforcement.
His no-nonsense briefings and creative explanations help highlight just how bizarre criminal behavior has become – especially when drugs are involved.
Frymire admitted to being a methamphetamine user for 28 years, which probably explains how someone convinces themselves that shoving a thermos up their rectum is a reasonable smuggling strategy.
But here’s what really stands out about this story – the professionalism of the Polk County deputies who handled this situation.
They could have easily written Frymire off as just another career criminal getting what he deserved.
Instead, they recognized a medical emergency when they saw one and acted quickly to save his life.
Even after Frymire threatened to kill the arresting officer, deputies made sure he received the medical care he needed.

That’s the difference between professional law enforcement and the chaos we see in Democrat-run cities where criminals face zero consequences for their actions.
Sheriff Judd’s department doesn’t just arrest criminals – they maintain basic human decency even when dealing with the worst offenders.
It’s unclear whether anything was actually inside the thermos or what additional charges Frymire might face for his creative smuggling attempt.
What is clear is that this 26th arrest probably won’t be his last, given his complete inability to learn from previous encounters with law enforcement.
For the rest of us, this story serves as yet another reminder that Florida continues to lead the nation in bizarre criminal behavior.
And thankfully, we have sheriffs like Grady Judd to document these incidents with the perfect mix of professional competence and genuine bewilderment at human stupidity.
