Florida's Numbers That Should Embarrass Every Blue State Governor
Florida's economy hit $1.8 trillion in 2026 – surpassing both Australia and Mexico.
That's not a rounding error.
That's a single American state outperforming entire industrialized nations that have been building their economies for centuries.
The Florida Chamber Foundation's 2026 midyear report released Wednesday confirmed the state is still gaining 551 residents per day on net.

While California hemorrhages taxpayers and New York watches its population flee, Florida can't build fast enough to keep up with demand.
Single-family home sales increased year-over-year for ten consecutive months, according to the Chamber Foundation.
That's what a functional housing market looks like – not the frozen disaster in blue states where leftist zoning laws and environmental regulations have turned homeownership into a pipe dream.
Blue Origin Chose Florida While Newsom Chose Decline
The real story isn't just the headline numbers.
It's who's coming and why.
Blue Origin just committed $600 million to a new manufacturing facility in Florida, bringing 500 aerospace jobs with average salaries over $98,000.
Jeff Bezos's rocket company could have gone anywhere.
It chose Florida.
In April 2026, Florida's total nonagricultural employment reached a record 10,032,900 jobs – with a labor force that hit 11,150,000 for the first time in history.
Florida logged 109 rocket launches in 2025, carrying more than 3 million pounds of payload.
That's not a coincidence.
That's what happens when a governor cuts taxes, fights the regulators, and lets free enterprise work.
"Blue Origin's expansion is proof that when you get the fundamentals right, the best companies bring their best jobs to you," DeSantis said.
He wasn't wrong.
Free Enterprise Is Winning and Florida Proved It
When the Florida 2030 Blueprint launched in 2018, Florida ranked 18th in the global economy.
Today it ranks 14th.
In eight years, Florida leapfrogged Spain, Australia, and Mexico by doing something radical – getting the government out of the way.
No state income tax.
No inheritance tax.
No capital gains tax.
The Chamber is targeting a top 10 global economy ranking by 2030, which would mean surpassing Canada.
Florida would need to grow another 21 percent to get there.
Given what DeSantis has built, nobody should be betting against it.
"Florida remains one of the strongest economies in the world," Chamber CEO Mark Wilson said, "but our success isn't guaranteed."
He's right about that too.
The housing affordability pressure is real – Wilson identified it as the single greatest risk to the 2030 vision.
DeSantis already moved on it.
In June 2026, he signed the fourth iteration of the Live Local Act – overriding local government obstruction of affordable housing projects, forcing zoning preemption statewide, and directing $236 million into new housing supply programs.

DeSantis's answer is to sideline the bureaucrats and let builders build.
Compare that to Illinois, which lost population again.
Or California, where Newsom's regulations have made middle-class homeownership a distant memory for working families.
Or New York, where Hochul keeps raising taxes and watching her productive residents move south.
Florida isn't winning by accident.
It's winning because DeSantis made different choices than the Democrats, and those choices are paying off in real jobs, real rockets, and real results.
The 551 new residents showing up every single day already voted with their feet.
The only people pretending otherwise are the ones running the states they're fleeing.
