The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office just arrested a Florida mother of two for doing something to the family dog that left the sheriff – a man who has seen everything – speechless.
The camera that caught her was one her husband installed to find a coin thief.
And a Florida mom smiled in her mugshot after the husband caught her on camera with the family dog.
A Coin Jar Camera That Caught Something Far Worse
Erik Nummerdor set up two security cameras inside the family home after money kept disappearing from a jar.
He never expected what he found.
While reviewing the bedroom footage, he discovered video of his wife with the family dog, Ranger – the footage showed her partially unclothed and positioned with the animal in a way detectives concluded was sexual in nature.
He took it straight to Facebook first, posting the allegations publicly with photo and video evidence attached.
A Charlotte County Sheriff's detective saw the social media posts himself.
Detectives then interviewed Erik, collected sworn statements, and obtained the digital footage from the home surveillance system.
On September 15, investigators sat down with Malia Nummerdor.
She confirmed she was the woman in the video and that Ranger was the family pet.
Then she denied anything sexual had occurred – and could not give a consistent explanation for what the camera clearly showed.
She asked for an attorney and the interview ended.
The Sheriff Said What Everyone Is Thinking
Charlotte County Sheriff Bill Prummell did not bother with careful legal language.
"There are only a few times in my career that I have been at a loss for words," Prummell said after the arrest.
"This is one of those times."
"I simply cannot comprehend this behavior."
"No animal should ever be subjected to this kind of conduct, and you can be sure that we will take action when we learn about it here in Charlotte County."

Then he addressed the mugshot directly.
"And then to smile in the mugshot? I don't know what there is to smile about when you've been arrested for something as disgusting as this."
Nummerdor is charged with Sexual Activity Involving Animals – a third-degree felony under Florida law carrying up to five years in prison.
Florida law also requires the court to ban a convicted offender from owning, possessing, or living with animals for up to five years following conviction – regardless of whether adjudication is withheld.
This Is Not an Isolated Case and Florida Knows It
Florida law enforcement has been dealing with a pattern of these arrests.
In July 2025, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement arrested Jorge Tyler Perez of Key West on 14 counts of sexual activities involving animals – charges connected to the same investigation that uncovered child sexual abuse material on his Snapchat account.
In February 2024, Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno arrested a husband and wife – John and Samantha White of North Fort Myers – after John recorded Samantha committing the same offense against a family dog.
Home security cameras caught that case too.
Four dogs were removed from the White home by Lee County Domestic Animal Services.
There is a reason law enforcement takes these cases with maximum seriousness.
The FBI has tracked the connection between animal abuse and human violence for decades – using animal cruelty history as a primary tool when profiling violent criminals.
Research shows that animal abusers are five times more likely to harm other humans.
Animal abuse was found in 88 percent of homes where physical child abuse was being investigated.

Malia Nummerdor has two sons.
Florida's legislature passed new animal welfare measures in 2026 – bipartisan legislation backed by Governor DeSantis – creating additional felony offenses for adults who commit animal abuse in front of children or encourage minors to participate.
The bill strengthened a framework Florida has been tightening for years precisely because prosecutors, sheriffs, and child welfare agencies understand what animal abuse in the home often signals about everything else happening inside it.
Sheriff Prummell made that calculation the moment he saw the footage.
That says something about the nature of this crime.
He was at a loss for words – and he put her in a cell anyway.
