Ryan Routh hid in the bushes at Trump's Florida golf course with a rifle.
But now a man just walked right up to the Secret Service agents he'd been filming for days – and told them he was on their team.
What they found in his car and his home is the part nobody's talking about yet.
He Came Back Twice
Jeanine John Taele, 38, of Downey, California, wasn't passing through Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes.
Federal agents spotted him the first time on Friday, July 31 – wearing an earpiece, walking the grounds, photographing and filming their security-planning activities.
He left.
He came back Sunday.
This time, golf course staff recognized him and alerted federal agents still on site conducting pre-visit security assessments for President Trump's planned Tuesday fundraiser.

Taele walked straight up to the agents – and told them he was a State Department employee assigned to a security detail.
It was a lie.
Deputies patted him down and pulled a 16-round magazine loaded with hollow-point ammunition from his pants pocket.
His truck was in the parking lot.
Inside: a loaded 9mm pistol with a round already chambered, another loaded magazine of hollow-points, a pair of binoculars, and a badge that read "security protection agent."
He also had an outstanding robbery warrant.
What They Found at His House Was Worse
The FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force didn't stop at the parking lot.
They executed a search warrant on Taele's Downey home and found what federal prosecutors described as an arsenal.
An illegally modified AR-platform rifle – unregistered in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record.
A 1911 .45-caliber pistol.
An AR-platform upper receiver.
Body armor.
High-capacity magazines.

Bulk pistol and rifle ammunition.
Two radio signal devices.
And multiple notebooks containing what authorities described as "concerning statements."
The FBI, the Secret Service, and the ATF are all investigating.
"While we are still investigating the motives of this individual, we are thankful he was apprehended before the President's visit," said First Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli. "Federal and local law enforcement stepped in early and prevented what could have been a dangerous situation from occurring."
FBI official Patrick Grandy said Taele's conduct raised "serious red flags."
Taele is facing a federal charge of possessing an unregistered short-barreled rifle – a felony carrying up to 10 years in federal prison – along with state charges including receiving a large-capacity magazine, carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle, and a second-degree robbery charge tied to a November 2025 incident already under investigation before Sunday's arrest.
He pleaded not guilty.
This Is the Pattern Democrats Built
Two years ago in Butler, Pennsylvania, a 20-year-old gunman put a bullet through Trump's ear while the Secret Service missed him hiding on a rooftop they'd been warned about.
Ryan Routh hid in the bushes at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach with an SKS rifle and a scope.
In April, an armed man forced entry at the White House Correspondents' Dinner and opened fire.
Now Jeanine John Taele spent multiple days casing Trump's Los Angeles golf course – and tried to bluff his way in wearing an earpiece and carrying a fake badge.
These are not isolated incidents.
They are a pattern.
And while this pattern was forming, Biden's own budget office was working to make the Secret Service weaker.
For fiscal year 2025 – the year after Butler – the Biden administration formally requested a 57% cut to the budget line that funds protection for presidential campaigns and national security events.
Fifty-seven percent.
Not a rounding error.
Not a clerical oversight.
A deliberate request to gut the protection surrounding the man his own party's media had spent years calling a threat to democracy.
Every previous attempt on Trump's life involved someone hiding – a rooftop, bushes, a hotel lobby.
Taele didn't hide.
He mapped the security operation, built a cover story, and walked straight into it – and the only reason it ended in a Downey courtroom instead of something worse is that federal agents spotted him on Day 1 and remembered his face.
Trump addressed it Tuesday the way he addresses everything – without flinching.
"Well, the only thing I get a little solace from is, they say only consequential presidents. And I am definitely consequential," he told Fox News.
He is.
And the agents who caught Taele before he got anywhere near the President are the reason he's still here to say so.
