The Southern Poverty Law Center spent decades telling donors their money fought the Ku Klux Klan.
A federal grand jury just indicted the SPLC for secretly paying KKK leaders with that same donor money.
Now Florida's Attorney General wants to know why the woman who ran SPLC's entire legal operation during that fraud is sitting on a federal appeals court – for life.
The Judge Who Was Running the Show
Florida AG James Uthmeier sent letters Monday to Speaker Mike Johnson, Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley, House Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan, and House Oversight Chairman James Comer requesting a formal impeachment inquiry into Judge Nancy Abudu.
Abudu is not some low-level attorney who happened to work at the SPLC.
She was the Director of Strategic Litigation – the person overseeing all of the organization's legal operations – from 2019 to 2023.
That is precisely the window when the SPLC's fraud was running at full speed.
"It strains credulity to think that Judge Abudu, a senior legal officer at SPLC, wouldn't have been aware of the organization's alleged criminal conduct during her tenure," Uthmeier wrote.

Biden nominated her to the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in December 2021.
The Senate confirmed her along strict party lines in May 2023 – the same year her tenure at the SPLC ended.
She has had a lifetime appointment ever since.
What the SPLC Actually Did
This is not a political allegation.
A federal grand jury in Montgomery, Alabama returned an indictment against the SPLC on April 21, 2026, charging the organization with 11 counts – wire fraud, false statements to a federally insured bank, and conspiracy to commit money laundering.
The DOJ later expanded that indictment, alleging the scheme quietly moved $4 million in donor funds to individuals inside the Ku Klux Klan, the United Klans of America, and the American Nazi Party – all while publicly promising donors their money was dismantling those same groups.

To hide the payments, the SPLC created bank accounts under fictitious business names – "Fox Photography" and "Rare Books Warehouse" – and routed the money through them.
Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said it plainly at the April press conference: "The SPLC is manufacturing racism to justify its existence."
Jordan and Comer Now Own Whatever Happens Next
Here is where it gets personal for you.
The 11th Circuit covers Alabama, Florida, and Georgia.
Every case involving immigration enforcement, voter ID laws, and election integrity in those three states lands before her court.
A judge who ran the legal department of a KKK-funded fraud operation now holds lifetime power over the elections and border policies you voted for.
Biden put her there.
Democrats confirmed her along strict party lines.
And because federal judges serve for life, nobody can vote her out.
Congress is the only remedy – and Uthmeier's letter now sits on the desks of Jordan, Comer, Grassley, and Johnson.
Jordan already sent his own demand letter to the SPLC in April, and Uthmeier's request gives him the opening to go further.
What happens next depends entirely on whether those four men decide a judge who oversaw legal strategy for a criminally indicted organization belongs on a federal appeals court for the next thirty years.
Uthmeier just made sure they can't say nobody asked.
