What AOC's Blessing Actually Means for November
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez formally endorsed Florida Democrat Senate nominee Angie Nixon on Wednesday, praising her push for universal healthcare, free childcare, and a national rent freeze.
The statement reads like a conservative attack ad that wrote itself.
Nixon joined the Democratic Socialists of America in June.
She wants to abolish ICE and private health insurance.
After Hamas's October 7 massacre, she introduced a ceasefire resolution so extreme her own party demanded she pull it.
She refused.
It lost 104 to 2 in the Florida House.
Now AOC has wrapped her arms around Nixon and called her "an exemplary fighter."
Florida Republicans should send AOC a thank-you card.
The Setup AOC Just Handed Moody
Sen. Ashley Moody – former Florida Attorney General, appointed by DeSantis, endorsed by Trump himself – was already leading in every poll.
Before Nixon even won the primary, Moody held a 7-point lead over the far more moderate Alex Vindman.
Nixon is not more moderate than Vindman.
Nixon is a socialist who got endorsed by Bernie Sanders two weeks ago and AOC this week.
Florida Republicans have gained more than 1.5 million registered voters over Democrats – a number that grew by 14,000 in July alone.
In 2018, Florida's Senate race was decided by 10,000 votes.
In 2024, the Republican won by 1.37 million.

That's the state AOC just marched into waving a socialist flag.
CNN analyst Bakari Sellers said the quiet part out loud: Democrats "won't be wasting money in Florida."
He's right.
Joy Reid called him wrong on her podcast, insisting Nixon has "momentum" and "something is happening in Florida around her."
What's happening in Florida is that Republicans are registering voters at a rate that makes the math unsurvivable for Nixon – and AOC's endorsement just made the TV ads write themselves.
The Endorsement That Never Wins
AOC doesn't have a great track record outside deep-blue New York.
Mandela Barnes – AOC-endorsed – lost Wisconsin to Ron Johnson in 2022.
Tim Ryan – AOC-endorsed – lost Ohio to J.D. Vance.
John Fetterman won Pennsylvania in 2022, then spent the next two years publicly distancing himself from the progressive wing just to stay viable.
The pattern is clear: in competitive states, the AOC brand is a liability.

Florida isn't a competitive state – it's a state where a card-carrying DSA member who wants to abolish ICE and nationalize healthcare is going to face a Trump-endorsed former Attorney General with a 1.5-million-voter registration advantage behind her.
Trump himself celebrated Nixon's primary win on Truth Social – because he knows exactly what this matchup means.
He called Vindman a "treasonous creep" and predicted Nixon would go down "to certain defeat at the hands of Ashley Moody."
He's not wrong.
AOC just made it easier.
Every Republican voter in Florida just got handed something better than a bumper sticker – a living, breathing reason to show up in November.
