Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis is working to support the mission of her husband, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
When Ron DeSantis was first elected Governor in 2018, she said they wanted to help Floridians achieve the “American dream” and help people become self-sufficient economically.
She has used her role as First Lady to lead a number of initiatives designed to help Floridians.
Casey DeSantis helps people get off welfare and back on their feet
Casey DeSantis announced that a program she championed helped more than 20,000 people get off welfare.
She helped launch the Hope Florida program in 2021, which is run through the Florida Department of Children and Families, the Florida Department of Elder Affairs, the Department of Juvenile Justice, the Agency for Persons with Disabilities, and the Guardian Ad Litem Office.
Hope Florida works with nonprofits throughout the state that help Floridians in need with things like a warm meal, help for foster families, or with bills.
“Since its inception, Hope Florida will have transitioned nearly 20,000 Floridians off of government assistance and onto a pathway to prosperity and economic self-sufficiency so they can achieve the American dream,” DeSantis wrote on social media.

The First Lady recently announced that she had gotten the private sector to join her efforts to help Floridians in need.
“Businesses can provide tangible items like mattresses, bed sheets, and clothes, as well as financial assistance and transportation to Floridians with short-term unmet needs,” Casey DeSantis’ office announced last year.
Ron DeSantis provides help to veterans in need
Ron and Casey DeSantis announced last November that Hope Florida was going to expand its mission to help veterans in need.
“As a veteran and Governor of the most military and veteran-friendly state in the nation, I am proud of the work we do to support our veterans and their families,” Ron DeSantis said. “As a state and nation, we owe a great debt to those who have served and sacrificed for our freedom, and this expansion is a testament to our commitment to providing a pathway forward for Floridians who wore the uniform.”
Instead of the system favored by Democrats of having residents rely on government welfare, Casey DeSantis is bringing to the private and non-profit sectors pathways to help needy Floridians.
The Hope Florida program is offering an opportunity to use communities to help the needy after decades of failure and wasted tax dollars by government welfare programs.
