Donald Trump was fuming over the five words Ron DeSantis said about being on his Vice Presidential shortlist

Feb 23, 2024

With Donald Trump cruising toward the GOP nomination, Republicans are focusing more and more on who he plans to select as a running mate.

Trump recently shared his shortlist with Fox News Channel’s Laura Ingraham.

And Donald Trump was fuming over the five words Ron DeSantis said about being on his Vice Presidential shortlist.

There is virtually zero chance that Donald Trump does not become the 2024 GOP Presidential nominee.

Trump has dominated every vote held so far and is crushing Nikki Haley in the polls.

Most Republicans are now starting to focus on who Donald Trump will select to join him on the ticket against Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in November.

Trump recently admitted that he had already made his decision but said it will be a few months before he makes it public.

However, Trump did share his shortlist during a recent town hall with Fox News Channel’s Laura Ingraham.

Trump told Ingraham that his shortlist included Ron DeSantis, Tim Scott, Vivek Ramaswamy, Kristi Noem, Byron Donalds, and Tulsi Gabbard.

But Ron DeSantis responded with five words that will guarantee his name is no longer on the list.

“I know some people are really actively seeking it,” he said. “It seems to me, just from watching the body language and stuff, that you have a handful of folks who seem to be auditioning for it.”

As for Donald Trump telling Laura Ingraham that DeSantis was on his shortlist, the Florida Governor made it clear that he is not interested in the position.

“People were mentioning me,” DeSantis said. “I am not doing that.”

DeSantis urged Donald Trump not to play “identity politics” with his Vice Presidential selection.

“Now we have a diverse Republican Party,” DeSantis said. “I want everybody in the fold, don’t get me wrong,” he continued. “But I don’t want people representing 10, 15% of the party being in the driver’s seat.”

Donald Trump did not respond well to DeSantis’ comments.

Trump spokesperson Karoline Leavitt wrote in a statement that “Ron DeSantis failed miserably in his presidential campaign and does not have a voice in selecting the next vice president of the United States.”

“Rather than throw cheap shots from afar, Ron should focus on what he can do to fire [President] Joe Biden and Make America Great Again,” the statement concluded.

Trump adviser Chris LaCivita fired back at DeSantis with an attack of his own against the Governor.

“Chicken fingers and pudding cups is what you will be remembered for you sad little man,” LaCivita wrote in a post on social media.

Currently rumors are flying left and right about who Donald Trump plans to select as a running mate for November.

Only time will tell who will fill out the ticket with Donald Trump.

But Ron DeSantis made it clear that it certainly will not be his name.
