Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is preparing a major 2024 announcement.
But first DeSantis has some business to take care of.
And Ron DeSantis is about to keep one promise that sent Joe Biden into a fit of rage.
When the Supreme Court overturned the historically wrong Roe v. Wade decision, it ended a 49 year national abortion-on-demand regime.
The Court striking down Roe, however, did not ban abortion in America.
What the ruling did was send the question of how best to handle abortion to the states.
Florida is a red state where Governor Ron DeSantis already signed a 15-week abortion ban into law.
Unfortunately, there were still over 90,000 abortions performed in the state of Florida in 2022.
Governor DeSantis set about to correct that, saying after the Dobbs case he would sign any good Pro-Life bill the legislature put on his desk.
Republicans in the State House immediately drafted a heartbeat bill, which banned abortion for six weeks with exceptions for rape, incest, and the life of the mother.
But the rape exception is not a loophole you can drive a truck through as the bill requires a police report, restraining order, or court order.
An abortion in the case of rape also cannot be performed after 15 weeks.
DeSantis told reporters he would sign this legislation should it make it to his desk.
“We’re for pro-life. I urge the legislature to work, produce good stuff, and we will sign,”DeSantis declared.
Red states enacting Pro-Life legislation is like waving a red cape in front of a bull for Democrats.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre flew off the handle in her comments about the Florida bill.
“Republican state legislators in Florida proposed today a bill that would ban abortion before many women know if they are even pregnant, virtually eliminating a woman’s right to make health care decisions about her own body,” Jean-Pierre stated.
“Like the overwhelming majority of Americans, the president and the vice president believe women should be able to make health care decisions with their own doctors and families, free from political interference. Period,” Jean-Pierre added. “They are committed to protecting access to reproductive care and continuing to call on Congress to restore the protections of Roe v. Wade [the overruled Supreme Court abortion decision].”
Democrats like Joe Biden want to keep the abortion debate centered on the false claim of “reproductive rights” and “access to health care” because it fools the public into thinking conservatives want to keep women out of doctor’s offices.
The pro-abortion fanatics know that if the debate on the number of weeks into a pregnancy abortion is restricted, the debate then becomes focused on the fact that Democrats favor unrestricted abortion-on-demand up until the moment of birth.
