A Disney executive lost his job after going woke caused this massive setback

Disney is reeling from the massive financial losses it suffered after the company went woke.

Someone had to fall on the sword.

And a Disney executive lost his job after going woke caused this massive setback.

Disney’s movie division has fallen on tough times after decades of dominating the silver screen.

Recently, its movies were panned by audiences for being too woke and have bombed at the box office.

Disney made a major shakeup to try and get its movie division back on track.

Disney executive behind woke box office bombs replaced

“Sean Bailey, the longtime president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production, has decided to step down, amid investor pressure to reverse Disney’s box office cold streak,” The New York Times reported.

The former production head began with Disney Studios in 2010 with the Tron remake.

Bailey was known for pushing the studio to produce an endless series of remakes that grew increasingly unpopular with audiences.

He produced a slew of live-action remakes of classic Disney animated films including The Lion King, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast.

Searchlight Pictures co-president David Greenbaum is tasked with cleaning up the mess Bailey left behind as his replacement.

Disney’s movie business suffers from going woke

The last couple of years have been a nightmare for Disney’s movie business.

The company lost nearly one billion dollars last year after a string of high-profile flops.

Lightyear, Thor: Love and Thunder, Strange World, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, The Little Mermaid, and Elemental lost $890 million.

According to Valliant Renegade, the movies cost $2.75 billion while only bringing in $1.86 billion at the theater for an $890 million loss.

Disney was a powerhouse for decades in Hollywood, but the studio appears to have lost its magic after going woke.

Universal topped Disney in 2023 as the highest-grossing studio in Hollywood, breaking Disney’s reign at the top since 2015.

Disney quietly admitted in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) last year that going woke was hurting its bottom line.

The company acknowledged that “we face risks relating to misalignment with public and consumer tastes and preferences for entertainment, travel, and consumer products.”

“Consumers’ perceptions of our position on matters of public interest, including our efforts to achieve certain of our environmental and social goals, often differ widely and present risks to our reputation and brands,” the filing added.

Changing executives will not fix Disney’s problems.

Their movie business will not turn around until the company abandons pushing a Left-wing political agenda and returns to delivering family-friendly entertainment.
