Florida Democrats are in turmoil.
Governor Ron DeSantis turned Florida from purple to red, and the Left are scrambling.
Now a far-left Democrat could be in trouble with DeSantis after one alleged crime.
Florida Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick is one of a handful of outspoken Democrats in the state who constantly rag on Governor Ron DeSantis.
But Cherfilus-McCormick perhaps should have spent less time attacking DeSantis and more time tending to her own affairs because she might have violated federal campaign finance laws.
The House Ethics Committee said that Cherfilus-McCormick “may have violated campaign finance laws and regulations in connection with her 2022 special election and/or 2022 re-election campaigns; failed to properly disclose required information on statements required to be filed with the House; and/or accepted voluntary services for official work from an individual not employed in her congressional office.”
The Committee voted unanimously to create a subcommittee to investigate her alleged crimes.
The Committee noted that “the mere fact of establishing an Investigative Subcommittee does not itself indicate that any violation has occurred.”
Cherfilus-McCormick, who serves as Deputy Whip of the far-left Progressive Congressional Caucus, was eager to see Donald Trump taken down with Fani Willis’s dubious criminal indictment in Georgia.
Cherfilus-McCormick said, “Over the course of 2023, the former president has now been indicted four times. Donald Trump is entitled to his day in court, but these latest charges are alarming and should by no means be considered part of a larger ‘witch hunt.’ Deeming them as such is not only inaccurate, but it threatens the very rule of law upon which our nation was founded. No different than the previous indictments, this one must also proceed without outside interference.”
Other far-left Democrats also find themselves in the midst of alleged misconduct.
Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar has been a scandal machine, including credible charges that she violated immigration law by marrying her brother so he could gain U.S. citizenship.
Omar is currently under fire for delivering a speech where she pledged her fealty to the people and the president of her native country, Somalia.
Cori Bush of Missouri, another rabid leftist, is under investigation for using taxpayer dollars to pay her husband for security services despite lacking the necessary qualifications.
Typically, ethics complaints go nowhere, but the investigation into Republican George Santos of New York might have changed the state of play.
Is Cherfilus-McCormick in hot water with her alleged ethics violations?
