Ron DeSantis had a secret meeting with Donald Trump that raised this important question

May 2, 2024

The Republican Party needs all hands on deck to win the 2024 Election.

Now the two most popular conservatives in the country are ready to work together.

And Ron DeSantis had a secret meeting with Donald Trump that raised this important question.

Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis have a secret meeting in Florida

The Republican Presidential Primary got heated at points this cycle between Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and former President Donald Trump.

When DeSantis suspended his campaign, he endorsed Trump, but things have been quiet since then.

The Washington Post reported that they had a secret meeting in the Miami, Florida, area that was set up by real estate magnate Steve Witkoff, a friend of both men.

DeSantis requested that meeting, per the outlet’s sources.

The GOP heavyweights discussed working together for the 2024 Election and Trump tapping into the donor base that DeSantis established during his Presidential campaign.

Roy Bailey served as one of DeSantis’ finance chairs for his Presidential campaign after serving on Trump’s finance committee in 2020.

He told Politico that it was time for everyone in the party to start rowing in the same direction.

“It’s a great development and makes perfect sense for Trump, DeSantis, and all Republicans,” Bailey said. “Gov. DeSantis had a really strong volunteer finance team and if we could plug that in and help Trump then that’s what we need to do — and want to do. It’s important to all get-together and row in the same direction.”

Trump is lagging behind President Joe Biden’s fundraising juggernaut powered by Wall Street, Big Labor, Hollywood, and Silicon Valley.

“We had a great meeting yesterday, arranged by mutual friend Steve Witkoff, at his beautiful Shell Bay Club in Hollywood, Florida,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “The conversation mostly concerned how we would work closely together to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.”

Trump’s Vice Presidential pick is still up for grabs

The sweepstakes to become Trump’s running mate is still wide open, with a new name seemingly rising on the shortlist every week.

Trump confirmed during a Fox News town hall hosted by Laura Ingraham in February that DeSantis was one of the names on his shortlist to become his running mate.

Politico reported that the Vice Presidency was not a topic of discussion at the Miami meeting.

But a closer relationship between Trump and DeSantis could signal that the possibility is still on the table, that DeSantis is a contender for the Vice Presidential slot.

There is the Constitutional hurdle of both men being Florida residents, but Trump could switch his residency to one of his other properties throughout the country.

Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis working together is good for both men and the GOP, with the prospect of a knock-down, drag-out brawl with the Democrats awaiting this fall.
