Ron DeSantis made one announcement about Florida that forced Democrats to take notice

Florida has become a national success story under the leadership of Governor Ron DeSantis.

The Sunshine State is continuing to set the pace for the rest of the country.

And Ron DeSantis made one announcement about Florida that forced Democrats to take notice.

President Joe Biden is presiding over one of the worst economies in decades.

Florida has managed to become a rare bright spot in the dismal Biden economy.

The state continued its scorching hot job growth to kick off 2024, while job losses are rising nationally.

DeSantis announces massive job growth in Florida

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced that the Sunshine State started off 2024 with private sector job growth that was twice the national average.

Florida added 37,900 private sector jobs in January.

That gives the state a private sector growth rate of 0.4%, which is double the national average for the same period.

“Florida has started off the year strong by growing jobs at twice the national average,” DeSantis said. “Florida continuously outperforms the national economy with fiscal stewardship, growth friendly policies, limited government spending, and one of the lowest tax burdens per capita in the nation.”

Florida has become a magnet for jobs because of its low taxes, no state income tax, and light touch when it comes to regulations.

The state’s Right to Work law, which says no worker should be forced to pay union dues to get a job, leads to faster private-sector payroll job growth.

Those policies have made the state an attractive place to grow and start a business.

Florida unemployment beating national rate under Biden

Florida has had an unemployment rate lower than the national average for 40 months running.

In January, the state’s unemployment rate was 3.1%, while the national rate was 3.7%.

Florida Secretary of Commerce J. Alex Kelly said that the state is continuing to see strong job growth under the leadership of DeSantis.

“Under Governor DeSantis’ leadership with velocity and purpose, Florida’s economy starts off the year with strong economic growth trends,” Kelly said. “Florida’s commitment to jobseekers and job creators keep us on our front foot ahead of the inflationary pressures created by D.C.”

Florida passed one of the nation’s toughest laws against illegal immigration last year, which included an E-Verify program that required that employers confirm their employees could legally work in the country.

Many critics said that cracking down on illegal immigration and instituting E-Verify would cause unemployment in the hospitality sector because those are jobs that only illegal aliens would do.

The leisure and hospitality sector (tourism-impacted professions) was second in jobs added for January with 9,700 out of all major industries.

“Florida’s hospitality industry continues to rise following the implementation of Florida’s historic E-Verify law, ensuring that companies are employing legal citizens. This proves the naysayers wrong. Florida can have universal E-Verify and still maintain a robust hospitality industry,” DeSantis’ office said in a press release.

Despite the Biden economy, Florida continued its blistering pace of job growth.
