A Florida lawmaker delivered one message about the border that left Democrats raging

Florida is trying to contain the damage created by Joe Biden’s border crisis.

Now the Sunshine State is stepping up its crackdown on illegal immigration.

And a Florida lawmaker delivered one message about the border that left Democrats raging.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has done the job the federal government refuses to do by trying to stop illegal immigration.

He was the first Governor in the country to send state personnel to help with Texas’ border security mission, Operation Lone Star, in 2021.

This year’s session of the Florida Legislature saw more legislation designed to crack down on illegal aliens in the Sunshine State.

Top Florida conservative leads the fight against illegal immigration

State Representative Berny Jacques (R-FL) worked on “every immigration bill” in this session of the Florida Legislature.

DeSantis signed three bills that Jacques helped push that added to the state’s laws deterring illegal immigration.

Jacques sponsored HB 1451, which bans local governments from accepting identification cards issued to illegal aliens from community groups and out-of-state governments.

Illegal aliens will use these cards in place of driver’s licenses or state-issued identification to access government services.

He also sponsored a bill that increased the criminal penalties for illegal aliens who commit crimes in Florida that have already been deported from the country.

“These are people who have been deported and came back across the open Biden borders and went on to commit more crimes,” Jacques told Florida’s Voice.

Any felony committed by a previously deported illegal alien would be increased by one degree under the law.

“They will be dealt with more harshly with more penalties for crimes they commit when they come back to Florida, if they come back to Florida, which I don’t think they will because we’re pretty tough here,” Jacques stated.

Jacques, a legal immigrant from Haiti, said that immigration law needs to be followed if someone wants to immigrate to the U.S.

“One of the things that most legal immigrants hate is when people cut the line when they see what they’ve had to go through, what their family members have had to go through,” Jacques explained.

Berny Jacques emerging as strong DeSantis ally in the Legislature

Jacques, who was first elected to the State House in 2022, said that DeSantis has signed 12 bills that he has worked on and he is hoping that he signs four more this year.

“The governor is a great conservative, so I expect him to sign all of them,” Jacques said. “The first session, we passed nine, we went nine for nine, and this go around, we did seven bills, and we expect to get seven signed.”

He noted that Florida and his district in the Clearwater area are trending more Republican after the bold conservative leadership of DeSantis.

“Under the leadership of our great governor and our state legislature, we’ve been able to pursue some bold conservative policies that people are waking up and seeing the benefits of those conservative policies,” Jacques noted.

Florida is providing a blueprint for the rest of the country with its successful conservative agenda.
