The Florida Supreme Court just handed down a ruling that could end the lives of countless unborn babies

Ron DeSantis signed a bill that banned abortions after six weeks into law last April.

But abortion-on-demand could be the law of the land in Florida if Democrats get their way in November.

And the Florida Supreme Court just handed down a ruling that could end the lives of countless unborn babies.

The Supreme Court’s decision in 2022 to overturn Roe v. Wade sent the issue of abortion back to the individual states.

Led by Governor Ron DeSantis, Republicans in Florida passed legislation in April of 2023 that banned abortions after six weeks of pregnancy.

“We are proud to support life and family in the state of Florida,” DeSantis said when he signed the bill into law. “I applaud the Legislature for passing the Heartbeat Protection Act that expands pro-life protections and provides additional resources for young mothers and families.”

However, the six-week ban on abortion could not take effect until the Florida Supreme Court issued a ruling on the previous 15-week abortion ban.

But on Monday, the Florida Supreme Court ruled in favor of the 15-week abortion ban, which automatically triggered the six-week ban to go into effect in 30 days.

“We conclude, there is no basis under the Privacy Clause to invalidate the statute,” the Justices wrote in their ruling. “In doing so, we recede from our prior decisions in which — relying on reasoning the U.S. Supreme Court has rejected — we held that the Privacy Clause guaranteed the right to receive an abortion through the end of the second trimester.”

But Democrats believe abortion-on-demand is a sacred right and have been fighting to codify it into law since the Dobbs decision in 2022.

The Left spent millions of dollars in states across the country to garner enough signatures needed for a ballot initiative to codify abortion on demand into state law.

Florida was one of the state’s targeted by these pro-abortion Democrats.

And on Monday, the Florida Supreme Court ruled in favor of a November election ballot initiative to enshrine abortion rights into the state Constitution.

If the initiative is supported by 60% or more of the voters, then abortion-on-demand will be the law of the land in Florida.

This is sad news for precious unborn babies.

Ballot initiatives are a favorite tool of the radical Left.

They allow Democrat and left-wing organizations to spend millions of dollars to turn out voters to the polls to vote for abortion on demand.

That is why Republicans should oppose ballot initiatives and allow state legislators to do the job they were elected to do.
