Infidelity usually brings turmoil into a relationship.
Some people react to infidelity by going into depression while others respond with outrage.
But this Florida man made one sick move after his fiancée confronted him about cheating on her.
Infidelity is a taboo subject and is often veiled in secrecy.
But it is much more common than most people realize.
According to surveys, infidelity occurs in 20 to 25 percent of all marriages over the course of a lifetime.
Men are more likely to cheat on their partner than women are.
Roughly 20 percent of men reported having sex with someone other than their spouse compared to 13 percent for women.
But the rate of women who cheat on their spouse has increased by 40 percent since 1990.
Of course, cheating also occurs before marriage and is more common during the early dating period of a relationship.
People who get cheated on usually experience emotional distress and can enter sadness and depression.
But those who initiate the cheating often react with anger when confronted by their partner or spouse.
And that is exactly what happened recently in Lee County, Florida, after a woman accused her fiancé of being unfaithful in the relationship.
Last week, police officers in Lee County responded to a domestic abuse call after the victim confronted her fiancé, Farad Deihim about cheating.
After she confronted him, he erupted into a fit of rage and threatened to shoot his fiancée, two children, as well as his pitbull.
Fortunately, he did not follow through with his threat to shoot the woman and the two kids who lived in the house.
But he did follow through on the pitbull and shot the dog, named Louie, directly in the face.
“Upon arrival, deputies made contact with 41-year-old Farhad Deihim and immediately detained him on scene,” Wink News reported. “While in communication with the parties involved, it was learned that a gunshot was fired and Deihim had shot the family’s dog Louie, a young pit bull mix, in the face, said Sheriff Marceno.”
And the sick act was caught on video by the home security camera.
“Shortly after talking and interviewing our witnesses and people that are in the house and there’s a video that is discovered,” Marceno said. “These screams of pain continued even after the video cuts out.”
“She [fiance] found out that he [Deihim] was cheating on her, so he was so upset that he shot the dog because of it,” Marceno continued. “Just an innocent, loving dog.”
Investigators discovered the dog inside the house hiding behind a couch with blood spewing from his face and neck.
But the good news is that the dog survived the shooting.
“Even with this life-threatening injury, Louie was sweet and loving to everyone that he encountered,” Marceno said. “Veterinarians are saying that Louie will make a full recovery, but will need some time to fully heal.”
He is now being cared for by folks at the animal shelter and is expected to make a full recovery.
And Deihim went to jail on charges of aggravated animal cruelty.
