Florida Governor Ron DeSantis hit the media circuit this week to promote his new memoir, The Courage to be Free.
Many view the book as a potential prelude to a 2024 Presidential run.
But Fox News viewers were stunned when Ron DeSantis referred to Donald Trump with these two words.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has been in the media spotlight all week promoting his new memoir The Courage to be Free.
DeSantis’ book release on Tuesday increased the anticipation even more surrounding his plans for 2024.
The Florida Governor appeared on Fox News Channel’s America’s Newsroom on Thursday to discuss his new book and his agenda for this legislative session.
Donald Trump started taking swipes at Ron DeSantis by referring to him as “Ron DeSanctimonious” in the days leading up to last year’s Midterm elections.
Trump also continues to point out that his endorsement propelled DeSantis to victory in the 2018 Primary and into the Governor’s Mansion that fall.
On America’s Newsroom, DeSantis was asked about the power behind Trump’s endorsement in GOP politics.
“[Trump’s] endorsement was the big enchilada,” DeSantis said. “Our voters want to look at you, and they size you up, and they take this responsibility very, very seriously.”
So far, DeSantis has refused to engage in back-and-forth with Donald Trump and is instead focusing on his agenda for Florida.
But while DeSantis is keeping his decision close to his chest, he did offer a few hints about his plans in The Courage to be Free.
Make America Florida is the title of one of the chapter’s in DeSantis’ book.
Many view the title as a hint given the only way DeSantis could “make America Florida” is by winning the Presidency.
“So, part of the reason I titled it that is because as we got to the end of 2020, you started to see the hats and shirts and flags in Florida, and even in other states,” DeSantis said about his Make America Florida chapter.
“Assuming we’ve been successful, we’ll take a look at what that would mean for national [politics],” DeSantis added as a hint.
The host responded by noting that “sounds like late summer [for a presidential announcement], am I right?”
But DeSantis refused to give any more hints.
“Well, I don’t know,” DeSantis said. “I definitely could come on your show between now and then to talk about some of the legislation I’m gonna be signing.”
DeSantis is expected to make his announcement after the current legislative session ends in May.
And the speculation and anticipation will only grow the closer it gets to late May.
