Gavin Newsom sat in stunned silence when Florida delivered this win for taxpayers

Mar 13, 2024

California and Florida have gone down two separate paths of governance.

The big winner of the blue state vs. red state debate is becoming clear.

And Gavin Newsom sat in stunned silence when Florida delivered this win for taxpayers.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis squared off with California Governor Gavin Newsom for a debate last year on Fox News moderated by Sean Hannity that was billed as “The Great Red vs. Blue State Debate.”

Hannity wanted the debate to highlight the difference in governance between DeSantis and Newsom.

DeSantis mopped the floor with Newsom in the debate to the point that the California Governor’s wife threw in the towel for him.

Florida’s success and California’s growing problems are confirmation that DeSantis is the real winner in the comparison of governance.

New Florida budget is a winner for taxpayers

The Florida Legislature is wrapping up the state’s budget for the next fiscal year and it is delivering on top priorities for DeSantis.

The proposed budget will have a $10 billion surplus and set aside $500 billion to pay down debt and provide tax cuts.

Florida already has no state income tax, but the budget provides more relief to residents who are struggling with the high cost of living in President Joe Biden’s economy.

The budget creates a series of sales tax holidays on items for back-to-school shopping and disaster preparation supplies for hurricane season.

Republican State Senate President Kathleen Passidomo praised the budget for giving Floridians tax relief instead of using it for more spending.

“Our revenues are increasing, but instead of spending all of we have, we are paying down debt, setting aside historic reserves, and providing for meaningful tax relief, so Floridians can keep more of their hard-earned money,” Passidomo said.

Republican State Senator Doug Broxson noted that Florida is in good shape financially while others are making “deep budget cuts and raising taxes.”

California facing a serious budget crisis

California is dealing with a record budget deficit that could increase to more than $73 billion despite having some of the highest taxes in the country.

The budget problems come after the state began 2024 by expanding Medi-Cal, the state’s government-funded healthcare system for low-income residents, to include illegal aliens.

Taxpayers in California will have to fork over more than $4 billion to give illegal aliens free health care that includes government-funded free sex change operations.

California is going broke and losing residents to states like Florida under the failed leadership of Newsom.

The great red state versus blue state debate has been overwhelmingly won by Florida.
