Donald Trump and Ron DeSantis are headed for an expected showdown for the GOP nomination.
Trump is not waiting on DeSantis to enter the race to start attacking the Governor.
And now Ron DeSantis dropped a four-word truthbomb on the press about Donald Trump’s latest attack.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ 2024 decision is the most-anticipated announcement in American politics.
DeSantis is considered by many as the only Republican who poses a threat to Trump for the GOP nomination.
So far, DeSantis has decided to keep his plans for 2024 to his inner circle.
But Desantis is making all the moves a would-be candidate would make.
Over the past couple of months, he visited several states to promote his new book and spoke at numerous GOP dinners along the way.
Even though DeSantis has not entered the race, Donald Trump has been attacking him since just before the Midterm election.
But in recent weeks, Trump ratcheted up his attacks on the Governor.
DeSantis has refused to respond to Trump and engage with him in a back-and-forth spat.
However, that all changed during a recent interview with Newsmax where DeSantis pointed out one brutal truth about Trump’s attacks against him on Medicare and Social Security.
“Those are Democrat attacks,” DeSantis said. “I don’t think anyone really buys that.”
DeSantis then called out Trump for falsely attacking him over something he actually supports.
“Donald Trump himself wrote a book where he was talking about the need to increase the age of eligibility for Social Security to 70,” DeSantis said.
In an attack ad last month, a super PAC supporting DeSantis used similar language about Trump’s attacks.
“Donald Trump is being attacked by a Democrat prosecutor in New York,” the narrator in the ad says. “So why is he spending millions attacking the Republican Governor of Florida? Trump’s stealing pages from the Biden-Pelosi playbook.”
Ron DeSantis is expected to make his announcement any day now.
Trump is already launching attacks against him.
DeSantis will have no choice but to respond in full once he enters the race.
And Republicans are preparing for a potentially nasty GOP Primary battle.
