Ron DeSantis dropped the hammer on green energy with this power move

Ron DeSantis is fighting back against the Green New Deal policies coming out of Washington, D.C.’s “Swamp.”

Now he is stopping extreme environmentalism from taking root in Florida.

And Ron DeSantis dropped the hammer on green energy with this power move.

Ron DeSantis draws a line in the sand in Green New Deal in Florida

President Joe Biden’s top political priority has been forcing his Green New Deal policies to fight climate change.

His goal is to develop enough offshore wind energy to power 10 million American homes by 2030.

These offshore wind farms are not only expensive and unreliable, they are damaging the oceans that they are built in.

Wildlife and fishing are being disrupted by the massive turbines and the transmission lines.

And they are an eyesore for anyone visiting a beach.

That is why Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed legislation outlawing them in the Sunshine State.

HB 1645 updated Florida’s energy policy to fight back against the Green New Deal and reliable power sources.

“The purpose of the state’s energy policy is to ensure an adequate, reliable, and cost-effective supply of energy for the state in a manner that promotes the health and welfare of the public and economic growth. The Legislature intends that governance of the state’s energy policy be efficiently directed toward,” a bill analysis of HB 1645 said.

Offshore wind energy development in Florida is banned as a result of the bill.

The state’s economy is driven by tourism and wind farms would upend recreational activity in the coastline.

State Senator Jay Collins (R-FL), one of the bill’s sponsors, said that the offshore wind ban was about protecting wildlife and tourism in February.

“Overall, the risk to our flora and fauna, our whales, the ecosystem around there, that’s concerning,” Collins said. “And then the tourism and noise aspect as well is also concerning.”

The signed legislation also removes language in state law to address the effects of climate change.

Natural gas generates 76% of the electricity in Florida.

The bill will reduce red tape on building natural gas pipelines.

A requirement that state agencies use “green lodging” for conferences and meetings along with a mandate that state government must prioritize fuel-efficient vehicles were eliminated in the bill.

DeSantis also signed a bill that banned the Florida Retirement System Trust Fund from holding investments in companies that are owned by the Chinese government or the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

“The legislation I signed today . . . will keep windmills off our beaches, gas in our tanks, and China out of our state,” DeSantis wrote on X. We’re restoring sanity in our approach to energy and rejecting the agenda of the radical green zealots.”

“Furthermore, we’re going to ensure foreign adversaries like China have no foothold in our state,” DeSantis added.

Florida has become one of the most successful economies in the country while embracing fossil fuels.

While green energy-crazed California has watched its electric grid nearly collapse.

Ron DeSantis is ensuring that the failed green energy policies coming out of Washington, D.C. don’t take root in Florida.
