Ron DeSantis is bringing one change to Florida energy that will leave Democrats raging

Democrats are trying to force a green energy revolution on the country.

Some states are beginning to push back against this extreme agenda.

Now Ron DeSantis is bringing one change to Florida energy that will leave Democrats raging.

President Joe Biden is spending hundreds of billions of dollars trying to prop up the energy industry.

Coastal states are being prodded to build massive offshore wind farms to meet federal green energy goals.

Florida, with its coastline, would be a natural place to begin constructing offshore wind energy.

But Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has been working behind the scenes to stop this green energy boondoggle.

DeSantis trying to kill offshore wind energy

The Tampa Bay Times uncovered emails that showed that the Florida Governor’s office was working with the Florida Legislature to ban offshore wind farms and to erase climate change language from state law.

A bill banning offshore wind turbines passed the Florida Legislature this session and is awaiting the signature of DeSantis.

DeSantis’ Deputy Chief of Staff, Cody Farrill, reached out to State Senator, Jay Collins (R-FL), via email about adding additional language to his bill banning offshore wind energy.

The proposed changes to the bill were a ban on “the construction, operation, or expansion of a wind energy facility or an offshore wind energy facility in this state.”

An amendment with similar language was attached to a larger energy spending bill that passed the Legislature.

Democrats furious that DeSantis stopped wind energy expansion

Support for green energy has become an article of faith in the Democrat Party.

When word leaked that DeSantis’ office engaged in the effort to stop offshore wind energy development, the outrage poured in.

“The close involvement of the Governor’s office in the wind energy ban really seems to indicate that this is another DeSantis culture war in an attempt to win political points as opposed to addressing any serious issues that Floridians are actually concerned about,” Energy and Policy Institute research and communications manager, Alissa Jean Schafer, said.

She whined that banning offshore wind energy could “lay a foundation for anti-renewables fear-mongering.”

But the green energy advocates missed one common sense reason to ban the construction of giant wind turbines off the Florida coast.

Florida State House Speaker, Paul Renner (R-FL), pointed out that offshore wind could hurt the state’s vibrant tourism industry.

“It’s very similar to offshore drilling: Floridians don’t want to sit on the beach and look at oil derricks and they don’t want to sit on the beach and look at big windmills right off the beach,” Renner explained.

DeSantis’ office put out a release that touted the offshore wind ban as a win during the most recent session of the Legislature.

“Florida’s energy policy focuses on the viability and availability of energy resources in the state, without subjecting the reliability of Florida’s grid to the pressures of the global Green New Deal regime,” DeSantis’ office says in a section titled Stopping the Woke.

Ron DeSantis is protecting Florida’s tourism sector and energy policy from being subverted with green energy.
