Ron DeSantis recently rejected an AP black history course because it violated the state’s Stop WOKE Act.
The College Board responded by accusing DeSantis of “slander.”
But Ron DeSantis just put the woke College Board on notice with one warning that caused all hell to break loose.
Ron DeSantis is showing the Left he meant business when he said that “Florida is where woke goes to die.”
DeSantis set off a firestorm recently when he rejected an AP black history course that was packed full of Critical Race Theory and other woke nonsense.
The College Board initially revised its course and submitted a new curriculum for approval.
But after pressure from the radical Left, the College Board released a letter on Saturday attacking DeSantis and accusing him of “slander.”
“We are proud of this course,” the letter read. “But we have made mistakes in the rollout that are being exploited.”
“We deeply regret not immediately denouncing the Florida Department of Education’s slander, magnified by the DeSantis administration’s subsequent comments, that African American Studies ‘lacks educational value,’” the letter added.
During a press conference on Monday, DeSantis put the College Board on notice that there will be a price to pay for pushing the woke agenda instead of real education.
“At the end of the day, we highlighted things that were very problematic,” DeSantis replied to reporters. “It wasn’t just people like me saying that – across the political spectrum, people were saying that.”
“You know, this really is junk,” DeSantis said. “Why don’t we just do and teach the things that matter?” he continued, before adding “why is it always someone has to try and shove their agenda down our throats?”
But then DeSantis dropped the hammer by declaring that Florida would evaluate its relationship with the College Board moving forward.
“I would also just say – this College Board, nobody elected them to anything,” DeSantis said. “They’re just kind of there, and they’re providing service,” he continued, before adding “so you can either utilize those services or not.”
The Governor added that “there are probably some other vendors who may be able to do that job as good, or maybe even a lot better.”
DeSantis also made it clear that the College Board is responsible since the curriculum violated state law.
“The College Board was the one that in a black studies course put ‘queer theory’ in, not us – they did that,” DeSantis said. “They were the ones that put in ‘intersectionality,’ they put in other types of neo-Marxism into the proposed syllabus.”
DeSantis said the College Board is more concerned with “indoctrination” instead of education.
Americans across the country have been fed up with wokeness in education for a while.
But Republican officials were afraid to fight back until Ron DeSantis showed it was possible with his bold stand.
“And, you know, many people agree with that in other states, we were just the only ones that had, you know, the backbone to stand up and do it because they call you names and they demagogue you when you do it,” DeSantis said.
“I’m so sick of people not doing what’s right because they’re worried that people are going to call them names,” he continued, before adding “we’re doing what’s right here.”
