Florida Governor Ron DeSantis could run for President in 2024.
But he must first get re-elected to another term as Governor this fall.
And Ron DeSantis just set a major goal for November that would reshape the political landscape in America.
In 2018, after Donald Trump’s endorsement catapulted him to victory in the Republican Primary, Ron DeSantis went on to win the General Election by a slim margin of 0.4%.
However, since his election in 2018, Ron DeSantis has gained rock star status among Republican voters nationwide.
DeSantis rose to stardom during the pandemic when he stood up to Joe Biden and Anthony Fauci’s COVID tyranny by refusing to enforce lockdowns and banning masks and vaccine mandates in the Sunshine State.
But DeSantis was not done making a name for himself by fighting against the radical Left.
After standing up for freedom during COVID, DeSantis took on the woke cancel culture crowd, declaring 2022 the “Year of the Parent” in Florida.
DeSantis banned teaching Critical Race Theory in schools, signed a bill banning biological males from competing in women’s sports, and prohibiting the teaching of gender and sexuality to children in kindergarten through third grade.
As a result, DeSantis is very popular with Florida voters, with a recent Morning Consult poll showing him with an approval rating of 58% compared to just 38% who disapprove of him.
Even though he is facing re-election in November, DeSantis is expected to cruise to an easy victory over his Democrat opponent.
But Ron DeSantis has a much bigger goal for November than just defeating the Democrats.
DeSantis is hoping to achieve a large enough victory in November that Florida goes from being a swing state to a solid Red state.
“I think that after the election, my goal would be, if we win the election really big, people like you who analyze these things are gonna say, ‘The days of Florida being a swing state are over,’” DeSantis said on “The Truth with Lisa Boothe” podcast.
“Florida is a Red state, and I think that’s because of a lot of what we’ve done,” he continued.
Of course, Florida has historically been America’s biggest swing state.
In 2020, President Joe Biden lost to Donald Trump by 375,000 votes in Florida, and in 2016 Trump had 112,911 more votes than Hilary Clinton.
But Barack Obama won Florida in both the 2008 and 2012 elections.
Since the Sunshine State backed the ultimate winner of the Presidency 74.2% of the time between 1900 and 2020, turning Florida into a red state would reshape the political landscape in America.
It would also serve as a great launching pad for a 2024 Presidential run should DeSantis decide to seek the Oval Office.
