Florida Governor Ron DeSantis became a household name during the pandemic.
His pro-freedom policies set Florida apart from the rest of the country.
And now Ron DeSantis just signed a bill to protect churches and religious institutions from Joe Biden.
Joe Biden and Anthony Fauci used the pandemic as an excuse to seize raw power and gain control over the American people.
They demanded states shut down schools and enforce economy-crushing lockdowns on local businesses.
And when they finally “allowed” states to open back up, they turned around and attempted to force everyone to mask up and get vaccinated for COVID.
Of course, Ron DeSantis stood up and rejected Biden and Fauci’s mandates and restrictions during the pandemic, instead choosing to turn Florida into an “oasis of freedom” for the rest of the world.
Florida was one of twelve states to declare houses of worship “essential services” during the stay-at-home order in the early months of the pandemic.
On the contrary, states like California, New York – and even Texas – took a different route than Florida and forced churches and houses of worship to temporarily close their doors.
But now that the pandemic is over, Republicans in Florida are making sure that never again will the government force churches to shut down while grocery stores and other places remain open.
On Friday, Ron DeSantis signed SB 254 into law, which officially declares houses of worship as “essential services.”
“An emergency order authorized by this part may not directly or indirectly prohibit religious services or activities,” the bill’s text reads.
“Bureaucrats and politicians across the country have exploited this pandemic to roll back our freedom to live our lives, to live the American dream,” House bill sponsor Nick DiCeglie said. “And just as we have worked to preserve the rights of our businesses, our families and our children, today, (House) members, we have a duty to protect religious freedom for all Floridians.”
“It would basically say if Publix is open, so is your place of worship,” Senate bill sponsor Jason Brodeur said. “What it doesn’t seek to do is what we’ve seen in some of the other states, where churches, synagogues, and mosques were singled out for congregated activities.”
Most Americans were appalled by the outright attack on individual liberty and personal freedom launched by the public health tyrants during the pandemic.
From forced closures to masks and vaccine mandates, Americans never want to go through another two years like they did during COVID.
And Ron DeSantis just took one step to make sure that churches and religious institutions will be considered “essential services” in the event of a future emergency declaration.
“In times like this, I think the service that they’re performing is going to be very important for people, especially when you have difficult circumstances,” DeSantis said at an earlier press conference about the bill.
