Ron DeSantis was thrown for a loop when a RINO committed this woke betrayal

Mar 6, 2024

Ron DeSantis is leading the charge in the fight against wokeness.

Not everyone in the Florida GOP is on board.

And Ron DeSantis was thrown for a loop when a RINO committed this woke betrayal.

One of the emerging battlegrounds in the fight over transgender ideology has become government-issued identification.

A growing number of states and the Federal Government under President Joe Biden are offering a range of options for sex on driver’s licenses, passports, and other government-issued ID cards.

The Biden administration added a third choice for sex on a passport called “X.”

That designation was meant to make passports more inclusive for people who identify as nonbinary, intersex, or gender-nonconforming.

Many states allow drivers to choose the sex they identify as, not their biological sex, on their driver’s license.

Ron DeSantis stops woke driver’s licenses

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis stopped the practice of letting Floridians choose their sex on their driver’s licenses dead in its tracks.

Drivers in Florida must put their biological sex on their driver’s license after a rule change from his administration.

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles Deputy Director Robert Kynoch told county officials in January that the change was made to help the state enforce the law.

“Permitting an individual to alter his or her license to reflect an internal sense of gender role or identity, which is neither immutable nor objectively verifiable, undermines the purpose of an identification record,” Kynoch told county officials.

The change sparked outrage and protests from LGBTQ+ activists.

Activists protested outside of government offices, claiming that DeSantis had killed them with the change.

Signs held by protesters had nonsensical slogans such as “The DMV murdered me” and “Ron DeSantis killed me.”

Bill to stop woke driver’s licenses killed in the Senate

Because this commonsense change was made by the DeSantis administration, it left the door open to have his policy reversed by a future governor.

So, a bill was introduced in the Florida Legislature to make this change permanent by Republican State Reps. Doug Bankson and Dean Black.

“It changes ‘gender’ to ‘sex’ to clarify original purpose in state statute regarding driver licenses, and ID cards as well as adds a definition of ‘sex’ to chapter 322 related to driver licenses and ID cards …,” Bankson said about the bill.

LGBTQ+ activists descended on the Florida Legislature to protest the driver’s bill and RINOs folded under the pressure.

RINO Florida Senate President Kathleen Passidomo said that the bill mandating biological sex on driver’s licenses was dead in the Senate for this session of the legislature.

“That bill, as far as I recall, that bill is still stuck in committee,” Passidomo said.

Per the rules of the Senate, legislation cannot bypass its assigned committee.

Senate RINOs got weak knees and let a commonsense move supported by Ron DeSantis die in committee.
