Now the woke outrage mob is trying to destroy a Florida college for this infuriating reason.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis overhauled New College of Florida, a small public liberal arts college, to return the school to its intended purpose of education.
He appointed a new board of trustees to the school to ensure the school prioritized classical liberal arts education instead of woke indoctrination.
DeSantis said that the college was prioritizing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) over its educational mission.
New College had become one of the most left-wing colleges in the country, so these sweeping changes sparked a fierce backlash.
Florida college targeted for eliminating gender studies program
College gender studies departments have become a hotbed of Marxist indoctrination that provides no educational value to students.
Gender studies programs are a breeding ground for feminism and radical gender ideologies that have swept through the country’s educational system.
The American Association of University Professors (AAUP), a woke professors union, sanctioned New College in part for eliminating its gender studies department after DeSantis overhauled the school’s leadership.
New College of Florida Board of Trustees member Mark Bauerlein told Fox News that the sanctions revealed the “ruthless” Left-wing ideology that has taken over higher education.
“I consider it laughable,” Bauerlein said. “We can’t trust the [AAUP]. I actually have no hope for the AAUP being reformed and letting up because they’re led by ideologues at this point.”
The AAUP’s sanctions against New College have no force behind them but it allows the professors to rage over losing control over a small piece of higher education.
Bauerlein was one of the six new board members that DeSantis appointed to the college.
He said that the investigation into New College by the AAUP and subsequent sanctions exposed the union as a Left-wing activist group.
“The problem is, when the entire system reinforces these distortions when the organizations that are supposed to be the watchdogs against lies end up being leading propagandists of those lies, we’re in big trouble,” Bauerlein said.
He added that the AAUP’s investigation revealed “just how ruthless the Left is in its control of higher education.”
Woke professors union never asked why gender studies was cut
Bauerlein said that the AAUP never reached out to him or New College during their investigation.
“You’re interviewing all these witnesses, family, friends and never interviewing the prime suspects,” Bauerlein explained. “If you’re going to do an investigation, you should interview all the parties involved.”
“I would have given them an academic rationale for gender theory not being an independent discipline,” Bauerlein continued. “But they didn’t ask me.”
The battle is underway in Florida to clear out the Left-wing political activism that has taken over higher education.
