Marine veteran Daniel Penny is facing a second-degree manslaughter charge for the chokehold death of homeless criminal Jordan Neely on a New York City subway.
Even though he clearly acted in self defense, left-wing radicals successfully pressured prosecutors to charge Penny with manslaughter.
And now Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is fuming over the two words Ron DeSantis used to describe Marine veteran Daniel Penny.
Jordan Neely was a mentally ill homeless man who had been arrested over 40 times, including in February after he assaulted a 67-year-old woman and broke numerous bones in her face.
Neely was on the Coordinated Behavioral Health Task Force “top 50” list of the “most entrenched and chronic patients” in New York City.
On May 1, Penny wrestled Neely to the ground and placed him in a chokehold for allegedly screaming threats at all of the passengers on the F train in New York City.
Neely lost consciousness during the incident and eventually died.
Even though Penny clearly acted in self defense, radical leftists immediately hit the streets to demand he be arrested and charged.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) even tweeted out a demand that Penny be charged for “murder.”
After at first refusing to charge Penny with a crime, District Attorney Alvin Bragg caved in to the pressure and charged him with manslaughter.
“Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg will charge Daniel Penny, the former marine who neutralized Jordan Neely amid an erratic outburst, with second-degree manslaughter after protests erupted in New York City over law enforcement initially declining to charge Penny,” Breitbart reported.
Daniel Penny’s attorney set up a defense fund on the conservative crowdfunding platform GiveSendGo.
“Daniel Penny is a twenty-four-year-old college student and decorated Marine veteran, facing a criminal investigation stemming from him protecting individuals on a NYC subway train from an assailant who later died,” the site reads. “Funds are being raised to pay Mr. Penny’s legal fees incurred from any criminal charges filed and any future civil lawsuits that may arise, as well as expenses related to his defense.”
Thanks to a tweet by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Penny’s defense fund has raised over $2 million.
“We must defeat the Soros-Funded DAs, stop the Left’s pro-criminal agenda, and take back the streets for law abiding citizens. We stand with Good Samaritans like Daniel Penny,” DeSantis tweeted. “Let’s show this Marine . . . America’s got his back.”
DeSantis included a link to donate to Penny’s defense fund in his tweet, which has been viewed by nearly 12 million people.

Of course, DeSantis’ support for Penny infuriated the radical Left.
But DeSantis is not one to make his decisions based on the feelings of the media.
DeSantis is a leader who has a record of standing up for his beliefs even in the face of pressure.
