Gavin Newsom issued Ron DeSantis an ultimatum. But this secret from his past changed everything

Sep 21, 2022

California Governor Gavin Newsom desperately wants to raise his national profile ahead of a likely 2024 Presidential campaign.

Newsom decided the best way to achieve this goal was to pick a fight with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

And Gavin Newsom issued Ron DeSantis an ultimatum. But this secret from his past changed everything.

Gavin Newsom was among the many Democrats whining and complaining about Governor DeSantis flying 50 illegal aliens to Martha’s Vineyard.

DeSantis wanted to highlight Joe Biden’s open borders failure by transporting illegal aliens and bringing the border crisis to the front door of some of America’s wealthiest liberals.

Newsom responded by publicly challenging DeSantis to a debate on CNN ahead of the Midterm election.

However, Newsom’s challenge invited scrutiny of his own record, specifically the “Operation: Homeward Bound” program Newsom implemented in 2006 while serving as Mayor of San Francisco.

In this program the city of San Francisco bought one-way bus tickets for homeless people living on the streets and shipped them out of the city with a message of “never to return.”

Newsom defended the program by falsely claiming that the homeless people he deported from San Francisco were all from out of state, mainly Texas.

“Remember, the vast majority of people that are out on the sidewalks are not from San Francisco originally, and they all have some contacts somewhere, a godparent, a mother, brother, sister, uncle, son, daughter,” Newsom stated at the time. “And those are the people, beyond anything else, that can help turn their lives around.”

But this was a lie as even the left-wing so-called “fact checking” website Politifact was forced to admit.

80 percent of the homeless living in San Francisco were from somewhere in California and few of the out-of-state homeless were from Texas.

“PolitiFact found at the time that, based on San Francisco’s own figures from 2004 through 2018, approximately 20% of Homeward Bound’s trips took place inside California and about 80% took place out of state. Texas was the most popular destination outside of California but only accounted for about 6.7% of the trips, far from the ‘vast majority,’ as Newsom claimed,” Fox News reported.

The DeSantis administration defended the illegal alien flights noting that the 50 illegal aliens flown to Martha’s Vineyard were all homeless and living on the streets.

In addition, the illegal aliens voluntarily agreed to get on the plane after being given multiple opportunities to say no.

“Senior officials in the DeSantis administration told reporters on a background call Monday afternoon that the migrants sent to Martha’s Vineyard were homeless and given ‘multiple opportunities’ to voluntarily take the trip or stay behind. They said the individuals were offered hotels, meals, showers and haircuts for a couple of days before the trip and that some indeed declined to go,” Fox News also reported.

DeSantis keeps finding new ways to expose Democrats as frauds on this issue.

Gavin Newsom was perfectly happy to boot homeless vagrants out of his city just like he is perfectly fine with opening the borders to illegal aliens as long those crossing the border never come anywhere near the communities where rich liberals live.
