Former Vice President Mike Pence and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis both look like they are ready to jump into the Presidential race.
That will put them both in direct conflict.
And now Mike Pence revealed this insane plan to take down Ron DeSantis.
Governor DeSantis is running as the future of the America First movement.
DeSantis wants to build on the policies and legacy of Donald Trump.
Mike Pence – and other establishment Republicans considering a 2024 Presidential bid – plan to try and defeat Ron DeSantis on the issue of Ukraine.
In an interview on Fox & Friends, DeSantis blasted Joe Biden’s blank check for Ukraine and ripped Biden for blundering into a proxy war with Russia with no strategic endgame in sight.
Pence plans to defeat DeSantis by appealing to the Mitt Romney/Liz Cheney/Mitch McConnell wing of the party.
“The Bible says if the trumpet does not sound a clear call who will know to get ready for battle,” Pence told POLITICO at Karl Rove’s donor retreat in Texas. “To me it’s a function of leadership.”
Pence then baselessly claimed fighting a war with Russia would deter a Communist Chinese invasion of Taiwan, which would lead to World War III.
“Russia is on the move, when authoritarian regimes like China are threatening their neighbors, we need to meet that moment with American strength,” Pence continued.
In fact, the exact opposite is true as the war in Ukraine is draining the American weapon’s stocks making it more likely Communist China will invade Taiwan as they see a depleted American military.
“If we surrender to the siren song of those in this country who argue that America has no interest in freedom’s cause, history teaches we may soon send our own into harm’s way to defend our freedom and the freedom of nations in our alliance,” Pence concluded.
Former RINO New Jersey Governor Chris Christie also plans to attack DeSantis over Ukraine if he runs for President.
At the Rove donor retreat, Christie also claimed it was a “false choice” to go after Joe Biden for caring more about the border of Ukraine than America.
“Christie called DeSantis’s warnings about sliding into a proxy war with China ‘one of the most naïve things I’ve ever heard in my life’ — arguing America is already locked in such a conflict; he told the donors ‘don’t be fooled by false choices’ being pushed by ‘a fellow governor,’ a reference to DeSantis’s argument that Biden was too focused on Ukraine’s border at the expense of America’s border; and, most pointedly, Christie wondered how exactly ‘they teach foreign policy in Tallahassee,’” POLITICO exclusively reports.
The GOP establishment still favors the reckless warmongering foreign policy of past nominees like George W. Bush, Mitt Romney, and John McCain.
And Ukraine looks like it will be the major fault line between establishment Republicans like Mike Pence and candidates like Ron DeSantis running as American First conservatives.
