Ron DeSantis has a track record of supporting Israel.
But it doesn’t matter to the radical Left.
And New York’s Museum of Jewish Heritage just made one shocking announcement about Ron DeSantis that will leave you seeing red.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was scheduled to speak at the Museum of Jewish History in New York this June.
He was invited to “discuss how the ‘Florida model’ has contributed to the growth and vitality of Jewish life” in the Sunshine State.
However, in a surprising move, the leftists who operate the museum have canceled DeSantis because he allegedly does not “align with the museum’s values and its message of inclusivity.”
Even though the sole mission of the museum is preserving the memory of the Holocaust, because of his conservative views, they are refusing to allow Ron DeSantis to come and speak.
Elliot Abrams and Eric Cohen of the Tikvah fund, which hosts the annual Jewish Leadership Conference, published an op-ed Thursday in the Wall Street Journal that they “were working closely with the museum on the details for the June 12 event—until, out of the blue, we were told by the museum staff that Mr. DeSantis didn’t ‘align with the museum’s values and its message of inclusivity.’”
“Either we disinvite the governor, they said, or our event was unwelcome,” continued the op-ed.
Abrams and Cohen were stunned by the Museum banning Ron DeSantis, especially given his long history of standing as a strong ally of the Jewish community and of the state of Israel.
In 2017, while serving in Congress, Ron DeSantis launched and chaired the Israel Victory Caucus.
He also led a delegation of Republicans to the opening of the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem, Israel in 2018.
Not only that, but as Abrams and Cohen pointed out, thousands of Jews are moving to the Sunshine State from New York due to DeSantis’ pro-freedom policies, essentially creating a Jewish communal renaissance in Florida.
When Abrams and Cohen pressed the museum as to why DeSantis wasn’t allowed to come and speak, they were told that the museum doesn’t “do politics . . . whether Left or Right.”
But this is patently false.
As they pointed out, the museum hosted a number of Democrats over the years, including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who is known for making anti-semitic statements along with her pals in the Squad.
“In August 2018, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, then a Democratic candidate for Congress, was a featured speaker at an event at the museum, sponsored by the Immigrant Arts Coalition,” wrote Abrams and Cohen.
Clearly, this is yet another move by the Left to censor anyone who doesn’t support their entire radical agenda.
DeSantis is taking the optimistic approach by hoping it’s all one big misunderstanding.
“We hope that this is all a misunderstanding, and the museum leadership will rectify the situation, because a Holocaust memorial should never be politicized,” read a statement from DeSantis’ office.
