One judge crossed a major line with this insane challenge to Ron DeSantis

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has a new fight on his hands.

This one contains national implications.

And one judge crossed a major line with this insane challenge to Ron DeSantis.

Leon County Circuit Judge John C. Cooper struck down the 15-week abortion ban that Governor DeSantis signed into law.

Abortion mills suing to block the ban claimed it was illegal because the Florida Constitution – which was amended in 1980 – contained “broad protections for individual privacy rights — including abortion.”

“Despite Florida’s history of protecting the right to abortion, the Florida legislature recently engaged in a brazen attempt to override the will of the Florida people,” the lawsuit read.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis promised a swift appeal.

“While we are disappointed with today’s ruling, we know that the pro-life HB 5 will ultimately withstand all legal challenges. The Florida Supreme Court previously misinterpreted Florida’s right to privacy as including a right to an abortion. We reject this interpretation because the Florida Constitution does not include–and has never included–a right to kill an innocent unborn child. We will appeal today’s ruling and ask the Florida Supreme Court to reverse its existing precedent regarding Florida’s right to privacy. The struggle for life is not over,” a statement from the governor’s office read.

When the Supreme Court handed down its decision striking down Roe v. Wade, it opened the door to stronger pro-Life laws.

Just two percent of abortions in the state of Florida take place after 15 weeks.

Many pro-Lifers wants a bill in Florida that bans abortion earlier than 15 weeks.

And it looks like Governor DeSantis is ready to deliver.

After the court struck down Roe Governor DeSantis wrote on social media that he would pursue “stronger pro-Life protections.”

“Florida will continue to defend its recently enacted pro-life reforms against state court challenges, will work to expand pro-life protections, and will stand for life by promoting adoption, foster care and child welfare,” Governor DeSantis wrote.
