Democrats have been desperately searching for a smoking gun to stop the rapid rise of Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis of Florida.
And they thought they had found just that after a popular populist move by America’s Governor.
But DeSantis is now charging through the Left’s latest roadblock with another trip to the winner’s circle.
Crisis on the southern border
Since President Joe Biden took the oath of office and through December of 2022, about 6 million illegal aliens have crossed the southern border.
In fact, December marked the ninth straight month with at least 200,000 illegals entering America.
To put that in perspective, that would be like the entire population of Orlando crossing the border over the course of 31 days – and it’s happening nearly every month.
As one part of a multi-faceted approach to a solution, some Republican Governors along the southern border have started sending the border crossers to “sanctuary cities” in blue states.
A so-called “sanctuary city” is a municipality where policies protect illegals from deportation or prosecution, despite federal immigration law – or in other words, cities that deliberately ignore and disobey federal immigration laws.
A more accurate name for them would be, “harboring havens.”
But now that they’re getting a taste of their own medicine, politicians in these harboring havens are crying foul and can’t stop complaining about the tactics of Governors Greg Abbott of Texas and Ron DeSantis of Florida.
Using the courts to stop conservative policies
One of the harboring havens that received a load of illegal aliens is Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis flew about 50 illegal aliens from the Sunshine State to the site of many Presidential vacations.

Immediately, just like in other harboring havens, the far-left politicians and community organizers in Martha’s Vineyard had complete breakdowns.
Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom of California even went as far as calling for America’s Governor to be charged with kidnapping and human trafficking.
Florida Democrat State Sen. Jason Pizzo took Newsom’s advice and filed a lawsuit, along with non-profit organization Florida Center for Government Accountability, calling DeSantis’ relocation program “unconstitutional.”
The lawsuit put America’s Governor’s plan to send more illegals to blue state harboring havens on a temporary pause.
Another victory for team DeSantis
But now, DeSantis may be ready to hit play.
The lawfare was looking promising for Democrats when one judge ruled against America’s Governor.
But the DeSantis Administration appealed the decision.
Now, according to The Floridian Press, a Leon County circuit judge just dismissed a lawsuit alleging that the Florida Department of Transportation and a contractor did not fully comply with public-records requests when funding flights of illegal border-crossers migrants to Martha’s Vineyard.
“The burden is on the plaintiff to prove they made a specific request for public records, that Vertol received the request, the requested public records exist and Vertol refused to provide them in a timely manner,” Judge Angela Dempsey wrote in the decision. “While plaintiff meets the first and second prongs of the test, there is no evidence that the public records exist or that Vertol refused to produce public records in a timely manner.”
The case could still be appealed again.
If it ends up in the Florida Supreme Court, it will be an uphill battle for Democrats, as that court tends to lean conservative.
