Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is getting ready for the new legislative sessions in the Sunshine State.
DeSantis plans to rack up a number of conservative wins that he can use to launch a Presidential campaign.
And now Ron DeSantis made a huge announcement that left Democrats in panic mode.
Governor DeSantis spoke at the state capitol to unveil his $114 billion “Framework for Freedom.”
DeSantis made permanent sales tax exclusions for baby clothes, diapers, cribs and strollers.
In addition, DeSantis aimed to provide tax relief to Floridians by keeping gas stoves – which Joe Biden floated the idea of banning – tax free.
“We’re not even a state—Florida, wasn’t even connected, we’ve got mostly electric. It’s just the principle of . . . this is ridiculous,” DeSantis declared. “And they do want to go after it. They got blowback, so they kind of had to back off, but we want you to be able to buy those free from the state of Florida as far as taxes.”
DeSantis’ “Framework for Freedom” also boosted families by making children’s books and toys as well as athletic equipment and household items under the cost of $25 tax free.
“This is going to be really, really good for families in Florida, and if you do this stuff and a family commutes, and if they have young kids and all of this stuff, you’re talking potentially thousands of dollars in savings,” DeSantis added.
DeSantis provided small business relief by announcing “$140 million for small business tax relief, allowing businesses to save on sales tax payments to the state, in addition to sales tax holidays in the spring and fall for school supplies, and 14-day disaster preparation tax holidays, a continuation from the year before,” WFLA News Channel 8 reports.
The budget also included a “freedom summer” with a 15-week sales tax holiday as parents prepared to send their children back to school.
Unlike the federal government, DeSantis sought to control spending and pay down the state’s debt.
DeSantis announced the elimination of state government positions to pay down the $30 billion debt, which DeSantis contrasted with the overall size of the state economy which was $1 trillion.
The Florida Governor eagerly compared the sustainable fiscal track of Florida to that of the federal government.
“Contrast that with the federal government. The debt is bigger than the overall national economy, the debt to GDP ratio is like 130%,” DeSantis continued.
“Florida, we’re built to succeed now and deep into the future,” DeSantis concluded. “These debt policies are going to be very, very positive.”
DeSantis’ “Framework for Freedom” includes the kind of working-class tax relief, spending cuts and debt reduction that serve as the model for the nation.
And it is the type of program that would prove popular in a national election.
