Ron DeSantis revealed something about his past that will leave you speechless

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is a rising star in the Republican Party.

Governor DeSantis is a favorite to win the GOP nomination for President if Donald Trump chooses not to run in 2024.

And now Ron DeSantis revealed something about his past that will leave you speechless.

Long before Ron DeSantis ever entered the arena of politics DeSantis starred on the baseball diamond.

Ron DeSantis played in the Little League World Series.

DeSantis started for four years at Yale and his senior year batted .336 to lead the team.

But like most children of the ‘80s Governor DeSantis grew his love for baseball as a card collector.

In an appearance on the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton show, DeSantis discussed his love of baseball card collecting.

When asked what his favorite card was, DeSantis cited the most famous baseball card since the 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle rookie card.

“Of course, 1989 Ken Griffey Jr.,” DeSantis declared.

The 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr. card quickly shot up in value as it was the number one card in Upper Deck’s ground breaking debut line of baseball cards.

This card is now valued at $1,500 and DeSantis told Sexton and Travis he had several of the 1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr. rookie cards that were graded in top condition.

“I still have some of those Griffeys, some of them are in very good condition,” DeSantis told the hosts. “I’ve got some PSA10s, and so, I just keep those. I don’t think I could ever sell them. That was kind of the epic rookie card.”

DeSantis added that the first card he hunted for on the card show circuit was a 1984 Don Mattingly rookie card, which DeSantis admitted he could never get his hands on one in good condition.

“Actually, I would also say the first one that was really big for me was the Don Mattingly 1984 Donruss. I had to search far and wide to get that, I did get it. It wasn’t in great condition, but then when the Griffey came out . . . ”

DeSantis’ campaign team also capitalized on his baseball exploits selling cards with DeSantis playing in college on the website for DeSantis’ re-election bid.
